Founder's Profile
Josimar Henrique da Silva, President and CEO of Hebron Group was born in Palmares, at Zona da Mata South of the State of Pernambuco, on July 9, 1950.

It was in Caruaru, in the dry region of the State that, when still a child, he started to work, helping his father, a small businessman in the famous city fair. Well acquainted with trade, at the age of 13, Josimar worked as a store clerk, in woven fabric stores. Next, he worked at Radio Liberdade, a radio station, always dividing his time between work and the studies in a county public school. After a while he gave up the broadcasting profession and worked as an accounting clerk. In this profession, he graduated as an accountant and later worked in a bank.

At the age of 21, working at the former Banco Nacional do Norte (Banorte), Josimar resigned and moved to Recife.
Here, he started his experience in selling medicines, At Aché Laboratories, as an advertising representative, he started a full learning of the pharmaceutical industry. He followed all the steps of operating a laboratory, the external functions, like sales, the industrial production. This learning period lasted eleven years. During this period he received various promotions at Aché, each promotion meaning more knowledge of the market. Traveling all over the country, he acquired even more experience. In São Paulo, he was assigned the assembly and structuring of a new laboratory that Aché had acquired, the Novoterápica, of Italian origin. A new structure of work is opened to Josimar when he manages the external situation of the laboratory and follows up the entire pharmaceutical industrial process. At that time, he had a better contact with professors, researchers and universities, and gained knowledge of the potential in research and raw-materials in Brazil.

Josimar naturally took over sales management at Novoterápica and went back to the Northeast to restructure the North/Northeast Regional Office, now with the two companies together, Aché and Novoterápica. He makes the most important decision in his professional life, he resigned when he was managing 450 employees and 35% of company sales. Henceforth, he faces the challenge of building his own business.

He opened a distributorship of medicines and went back to the advertising visits, starting at the same time, the installation of a laboratory that would use national raw-materials and would take advantage of the research and product development work of scientists of Brazilian universities. The building of Hebron® pharmaceutical laboratory, the result of his boldness and determination, took four years, from 1985 to 1989. The Company started operations in January of 1990.

The other facet of this industrial entrepreneur, who thinks like a co-scientist and developer of medicines, is the politician. His activity in defense of the national pharmaceutical industry made him the President of ALANAC – Association of National Pharmaceutical Laboratories, in two consecutive terms (2002-2004 and 2004-2006). Currently he is the President of the Board of Directors of FEBRAFARMA – Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Industry, Vice-President of the Board of Directors of ALANAC and member of the Board of Directors of ABIFINA – Brazilian Association of Fine Chemistry Industries, Biotechnology and its Specialties. He is a member of the Advisory Board of ANVISA – National Agency of Public Health Vigilance, and represents CNI – National Confederation of Industry with ABDI – Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development.
